Etymology
[The word seems to occur only in that part of the Genesis which is supposed to be derived from an Old Saxon original, and to be a form borrowed from Old Saxon stríd. In the Liber Scintillarum stríþlíce glosses districte, 132, 9, and stríðnysse glosses districtionis, 123, 18; but these may be explained as errors for stíþlíce, stíðnysse: the nominative of the latter glossing districtio occurs 123, 9.]
